What We Do – Our Programs & Services

Kent County has a big challenge to overcome. More than 11,000 kids are reported abused or neglected every year. It’s a staggering number. It’s also highly preventable. When parents have access to the right resources, training, and tools, results follow. At Family Futures, we’re here to ensure brighter futures, one parent and one child at a time. Through parent coaching, home visiting, and parent education, we work our mission: to shape a community in which all chuldren are supported to reach their full potential. Our programs are outlined below.

Waiting for a new baby seems to take forever! Nine months of preparation seems like plenty of time though right? However, once the baby is home, life in your household changes quickly and can be overwhelming for parents. Healthy Families recognizes that parenting is a journey and we’re here to help guide the way. Our goal is to help parents to be at their best, so that their children grow up happy, healthy, and encouraged. more…

Connections is grounded in the belief that strong, confident parents and caregivers play the most important part in helping children reach their full potential. Enrolled parents and caregivers receive age-specific developmental assessment information, activity ideas, developmental newsletters, access to parent coaches, and additional community resources. This information leads to knowledge that will reduce parental stress and build confidence. more…

RAVE (Resources Against Violent Encounters)

RAVE is an interactive prevention education program geared to middle and high school youth. It’s designed to inform and equip participants with information, tools, resources, and confidence in dealing with abusive or potentially abusive relationships. RAVE brings relationship violence out of the shadows and provides our community’s teens and pre-teens with an opportunity to share and learn in a safe, supportive setting. RAVE is a positive step toward breaking the cycle of relationship violence. It’s available at NO COST upon request to any Kent County school class, church group, sports team, youth group, club, or organization. more…

To keep children safe, we need our community to recognize abuse and neglect and know how to report it. Over the years, we’ve focused on preventing child abuse and neglect more and more. It’s our way of investing in the future of our children, here and now, before problems even have a chance to occur.
